Joe completed a Bachelor of Business (accounting major) at the University of New England in 1990 and followed this with a Graduate Diploma of Business (Information Systems) in 1992. Joe is a registered tax agent and is a qualified Justice of Peace. Recently, Joe completed his required studies to become a SMSF Specialist Advisor (SSA). As a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Joe has also taught students undertaking the CA program to become qualified Chartered Accountants through a series of workshops.
Joe’s professional career began in the audit division at Ernst and Young on the Gold Coast. He then joined Illingworth and Co, a small Chartered Accounting firm where he completed his professional year requirement to become a Chartered Accountant and moved into a managerial position. After gaining extensive experience with the Gold Coast Firm’s, Joe accepted a position Heinz Watties Australia in Papua New Guinea to broaden his international experience. After two years abroad Joe declined an attractive management position with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Papua New Guinea, returning to the Gold Coast to become a partner in his old firm. Over the next two and a half years his vision and expertise played a vital part in the firm’s success and growth.
In September 2001, Joe formed Joe Walsh and Associates. Since then, the firm has experienced rapid growth and the client base continues to grow.
Joe practises in the areas of accounting and taxation and specialises in the following: · Using structures to separate personal and business assets and protect his clients asset base · Advising individuals and businesses on strategies to minimise tax · Annual reviews of assets and liabilities including valuation of business assets · Administration & Retirement Strategies for Self Managed Superannuation Funds · Advising clients on buying, selling and restructuring businesses · Business & Strategic Planning through analysis and ongoing monitoring of Growth, Profit and Cash flow
Joe assists not for profit organisations by volunteering his time as a committee person in various roles and sits on a number of client boards as an external financial controller. |
